GTA V Release Date + Delay

Rockstar Games has finally revealed a release date for GTA V but its much further than we previously expected. As you know, Rockstar previously projected GTA V to release by Spring of this year. The GTA V developer now says the game wont be hitting shelves until September 17th 2013. Though they did not give a solid reason for the delay, here is a statement issued by the studio:

Dear all,

Today, we have an official release date to share with you: Grand Theft Auto V will arrive in stores on September 17, 2013.

We know this is about four months later than originally planned and we know that this short delay will come as a disappointment to many of you, but, trust us, it will be worth the extra time. GTAV is a massively ambitious and complex game and it simply needs a little more polish to be of the standard we and, more importantly, you require.

To all Grand Theft Auto fans, please accept our apologies for the delay, and our promise that the entire team here is working very hard to make the game all it can be. We are doing all we can to help ensure it will meet if not exceed your expectations come September – we thank you for your support and patience.

After this news was revealed, Rockstar’s websites were bombarded with angry and hateful comments by many fans who were banking on a Spring release. The GTA V developer then released the following statement.

5 New GTA V Screen Shots

Rockstar Games dropped a present under the tree for info thirsty GTA fans in the form of five new in-game screen shots. These screens reveal more about exciting new features in the upcoming GTA 5. Besides the animals, probably the most exciting new feature revealed about GTA V so far, a submarine. Game Informer Q&A + 2 new GTA 5 screens

Its been a crazy week for GTA 5 fans as information and visuals on the game just keep on coming in. Game Informer magazine held a Q&A with the fans and we have pulled out some tidbits of information for you. Two new GTA 5 screen shots have been revealed as well!!

Here are some things mentioned by Game Informer.

  • You cannot play the entire campaign as only one of the three GTA V characters. You will be forced to play some ‘solo’ missions with the character Rockstar has designated for those missions. When two or all three of the protagonists are involved in a mission, you can choose which you play with. Even then, there may be parts of the mission where you will be forcefully switched to one specific character.
  • There will be no GTA V co-op campaign.
  • You cant just kill one of the protagonists for kicks. In order to move further into the campaign, all GTA 5 protagonists must stay alive.
  • You can walk into Michaels house(as him) and interact with his wife and kids.
  • Players can buy new clothes for the protagonists.
  • When in free-roam, you can choose which character you play with. Each of them have their own unique side activities so give all three a shot.
  • Each of the main GTA V characters lives in a different part of Los Santos but there is no restrictions as to where they can go.
  • Franklin has a dog named Chop.
  • GTA V uses the same “Natural Motion Euphoria” animation engine that powered GTA IV, Red Dead Redemption, and Max Payne 3.
  • This is what Dan Houser said when asked why GTA 5 was done in Los Santos instead of Vice City or Liberty City again: “Sam, my brother, more than anyone, but also the lead artist Aaron Garbut, were both really interested in the idea of doing a proper Los Angeles. We felt we hadn’t done that with San Andreas – which were these very small, sketch-like cities. Los Angeles and the surrounding countryside would be very interesting, giving us good themes to play on and lots of good different gameplay environments – something that could allude to aspects of IV and allude to aspects of San Andreas, but still feel very fresh and different from both of them…The geography you could get outside Los Angeles is spectacular. The contrast between desert/rural Southern California, inland from L.A. and just a bit north, compared to L.A., gives you a great microcosm of red state/blue state theme – different vibes culturally as much as geographically. I think that was something we really felt would be good about this location.”

  • Right now teh GTA V inventory system is set up so each character has his own money and weapons but there could be some changes made before the game is released.
  • Characters from GTA III, Vice City, or San Andreas will not be in the game but a couple of familiar people from GTA IV may show their face.
  • The IAA is GTA 5′s equivalent of the real world’s CIA.

Finally after over a year passing since Rockstar Games released GTA 5′s first trailer, they have finally dropped a longer, more detailed, second GTA V trailer.
